Nothing great in the world has ever been achieved without passion.
‘Passion’ is the hymn that is essential for every personage in a startup to chant. The nervous energy of a person can be well groomed if he/she is willing to work for a startup. As goes the saying “Experience has no substitutes”, working for a startup can provide essential inputs to a person who is willing to start his own entrepreneurial venture in the future.
Though the picture does not always have a happy ending, but it is still crazy (pun intended) to work in for a startup. On the other hand, it is always better than listening to the strict ‘to do’ schedule of your MNC’s boss in yours cozy AC cabin. If and only if you have the desire, patience, passion and energy to think out of the box business ideas which have a profit potential in them, you should work for a startup; not for anyone else’s but for your own good.
Few commandments you should try and stick to;
- A sense of camaraderie would help create a good environment in a startup enabling the opportunity to learn from others.
- Every miniature amount of endeavor put into a startup matters as it takes a startup frontward towards its goal. Remember, your effort matters, however small or big it is.
- An individual should be self motivated to understand the nuances of the operations in a startup and should be competent to deliver value to it.
- An expertise in any domain combined with the fervor of acquiring and developing new skills is the key factor for a person willing to work in a startup.
- Laziness, if you have, should be got ridden of as it is a strict no-no while working in a startup.
- Be prepared about the task that you are expected to perform. If possible gather all the required information before starting on with the task.
- Confidence, Creativity and Commitment are the 3C’s that one should always have down pat while working in a startup.
- Readiness to sacrifice pleasures such as office parties, a good ambience, free phones, transportation service, out-stationed trainings etc. and yearning to excel in even the worst case scenario stands you good in a startup.
- Have a learning approach while working because that would help you when you own a startup.
- Have the valor to dream because to be a winner, it is important to be a dreamer first.
